What Actually Happened
I've been on both sides of job applications and interviews. I've noticed that some of the strongest performers I've worked with didn't have impressive resumes. Meanwhile, people with perfect resumes struggled once they were in the role. This made me wonder if we've over-optimized resumes for systems instead of humans. I think tools like Kickresume can help with structure and readability, but no template can show how someone handles ambiguity, thinks through messy problems, or collaborates under pressure.
What I wish I knew
"I wish I had known that a resume is just a starting point and that the conversation during an interview can make all the difference."
Advice to Someone Facing This Now
If I could tell you one thing
"Don't wait until you have a perfect resume to start applying. Focus on building relationships and having meaningful conversations during interviews, because that's where the real connection is made."
