Promised a raise, got a $12k paycut instead

I was promised a raise, but got a paycut due to a convoluted contract. I've been doing the work of 1.5 people due to understaffing and have been burned out.

What I wish I knew
"I wish I had checked the contract before signing."
If I could tell you one thing
"Don't take promises at face value and always check the fine print."
