It absolutely double or triple counts expenditures and if you link in multiple accounts, it will count everything leaving everything leaving an account as expenditure but if it goes into another of your accounts it will not cancel out. so dropping 500 into your bank from Venmo only counts as expenditure, and pulling dividends from an investment account does also.
